CDL Entry Level Driver Training - Class A
This comprehensive training course meets federal ELDT requirements (49 CFR Part 380) and is mandatory for individuals applying for a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for the first time. The course provides students with the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills for the safe and efficient operation of large combination vehicles (e.g., tractor-trailers). Training covers all aspects, from basic control and coupling/uncoupling procedures to advanced operating practices and non-driving driver responsibilities. Successful completion of this course is a prerequisite for taking the Class A CDL examination.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
Perform pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections of large combination vehicles.
Safely and effectively execute coupling and uncoupling procedures for trailers.
Effectively manage speed, space, and the transmission of a Class A commercial vehicle in various conditions.
Apply advanced safe operating practices to reduce the risk of accidents and manage hazardous situations, including jackknifing and skidding.
